What is the difference between Flatlock and GBS construction?Updated 2 months ago
Flatlock construction is a durable stitched seam, where the panels are overlapped and the stitching goes right through creating a flat, comfortable seam. Flatlock technology is often used in warm-water wetsuits due to its breathability.
Glued and Blind Stitched (GBS) seams are glued edge to edge and then stitched with a hooked needle that does not pierce right through the panels, creating a drier construction. This is a strong, flexible seam that is ideal for cool and cold water. Some wetsuit styles have additional internal tape which helps improve performance and longevity of the seams and is often applied to seam junctions and high wear areas.
